DRAGONBORN OF ISIMIIR:
Dragonborn of Isimiir are not exactly the same as Dragonborn of other worlds. Those from Isimiir all boast the same Patron, Xakras'Tili-Nanhis: The Scintillating Dragon, the Imperial Peacekeeper, the Dragon of Isimiir. The original dragonborn are men and women of all races who came to Mount Oribaas, now known far and wide as the Dragon Mountain. They came to worship him as he slumbered.
Centuries later, the worshipers had built a religion, a massive temple with a large courtyard chiseled out of the mountain, which boasts a large active volcano. Some claim thaat the Dragon talked to them, others that they heard his whisper in dreams, others that he guided them or appeared to them at some form during their lives. All arrived, many stayed.
Once arrived, the first thing the monks who lived on Mount Dragon did was toss all belonging that the traveler owned into the volcano as a sacrifice to the dragon god. Then, they gave the new penitent a shivering silvery robe and began his training after a day of fasting. This tradition has continued for a thousand years.
Somehow, over the course of time, some members scaled the pillars of enlightenment and found their 'Inner Dragon'. Those that did entered the final chamber and if they survived the Rites of Transcendence, exited a full Dragonborn. These figures are now colloquially known as the Dragons of Isimiir or the Scintillating Monks. Once made a Dragonborn, the new creature gained many of the benefits of their new life but at the expense of their old life. Though they vaguely remembered being a human or elf, they could only remember the vaguest facts like, "I think I worked with shoes, or I remember the mists of a battle."
In fact, having released their inner Dragon, they have become new people. Born fresh, in the frame of their own incarnation.
PROUD DRAGON KIN:
Xakras'Tili-Nanhis Dragonborn look very much like dragons standing erect in humanoid form, though they lack wings or a tail. All Isimiirian Dragonborn have iridescent silvery scales, like that of a rainbow trout, but with spikes, horns, ridges, and draconic teeth. They are tall and strongly built, often standing close to 6 1/2 feet tall and weighing 300 pounds or more. Their hands and feet are strong, talonlike claws with three fingers and a thumb on each hand. All share the same Breath Weapon, a silvery beam of pure energy cased with a crackling divine lightning.
DRAGONBORN MONASTERY:
To any Xakras'Tili-Nanhis dragonborn, the monastery is more important than life itself. Dragonborn owe their devotion and respect to their monastery above all else, even the gods. Each dragonborn’s conduct reflects on the honor of his or her people and god, and bringing dishonor to the monastery can result in expulsion and exile.
Each dragonborn knows his or her station and duties within the monastery, and honor demands maintaining the bounds of that position. A continual drive for self-improvement reflects the self-sufficiency of the race as a whole.
Dragonborn value skill and excellence in all endeavors. They hate to fail, and they push themselves to extreme efforts before they give up on something. A dragonborn holds mastery of a particular skill as a lifetime goal. Members of other races who share the same commitment find it easy to earn the respect of a dragonborn. Though all dragonborn strive to be self-sufficient, they recognize that help is sometimes needed in difficult situations. But the best source for such help is the monastery or their Dragon God.
DRAGONBORN NAMES:
Xakras'Tili-Nanhis Dragonborn have no personal names given at birth, and they put their Monastic names first as a mark of honor. Monastic names might reflect a job they possess or a skill or hobby they excel at in their new life. A Dragonborn is not given a name, they choose their own. This is to make sure a Dragonborn's true self is shown in the name. Some Dragonborn changes their names several times in their lives to reflect their accomplishments and failures.
All Dragonborn names are only pronounced in Draconic though many can be translated to other languages. Thus, a Dragon who loved battle might name himself, 'Gu'Shou-al-Xuoa' meaning 'Warrior in Spirit' in Common, 'Leader of Men' in Dwarven Translation, and 'Starfrost Soldier' in Elven.
VERY RARE:
The dragonborn are very rare in the largest city and the small towns and villages of Isimiir. The common folk aren’t accustomed to seeing members of these races, and they react accordingly. The only thing that prevents widespread fear that the Dragon of Isimiir is benevolent and a protector of all races in the Civilized Lands. Unless the dragonborn starts breathing his Scintillating Blast and causing destruction, though, people are likely to respond with caution rather than outright fear.
