HUMAN, TROYDIAN (UnDeath-Favored):
The fanatical worshippers of UnDeath complete a ritual when their children are young. They slip their souls into the Well of Pith. Those that survive from new moon to new moon in the well of pith are forever changed. They are possessed of the Unlife, a state of living and dying. They are living beings filled with negative energy and often hatred. These children are called the UnDeath-Touched and are blessed amongst the undead loving worshippers of UnDeath, and respected by his terrible minions, the undead multitudes ravaging Gaela'dra. The Favored of Undeath are skeletal beings with twisted sinewy bodies and grey cadaverous looking skin and thinning hair. Often their eyes are set deep within their sockets and they peer out upon the grey world of their births with pity. They are partially dead and partially alive. however, they eat sleep and breathe like normal humans. They have peculiar insights into the world of the undead and are favored as Priests and Necromancers by and for UnDeath and his minions as go-betweens for the living and the dead. Often times the Undeath-Favored are fascinated with the world of the dead and talk of it incessantly. Their eyes are often dull black or slate grey but sometimes ice blue or fully white eyes are seen. Despite their heritage and ancestry many Undeath-Favored humans are not evil. Unfortunately, outside of the Forsaken lands most are hunted by fearful mobs and destroyed before they can make their good intentions known. In Troyda, they pass unmolested as emissaries, adventurers, and citizens of the Undead City. +1 ECL ATTRIBUTES: +2 INT, -2 CON SIZE: Medium size. Troydian UnDeath-Favored human males are 5'0" + 1d12 inches tall and weigh 160 +4d20 pounds. Females are 5'0"+1d10 inches and weigh 110 +3d20 lbs. SPEED: Human base speed is 30 feet. LOW-LIGHT VISION: Troydian UnDeath-Favored Humans have 60' Low-light vision. PARTIALLY UNDEAD: The UnDeath-Favored are partially dead and thus have resistances to things that affect most mortals. They gain a +2 to all WILL and FORT saves. They cannot be killed due to Massive Damage from attacks, but they still die at -10 Hit Points. FROZEN SOUL: UnDeath-Favored Humans are not easily subject to level drain and gain a +4 to save versus level draining attacks. HARD OF HEALING: The UnDeath-Favored humans are resistant to 'Cure' and 'Harm' spells losing or gaining only 1/2 of the HP normally affected by these spells. UNDEAD INDIFFERENCE: All UnDeath-Favored mortals are treated by Intelligent undead as 'indifferent' (DMG page 149) until they are subject to hostile actions (such as the UnDeath-Favored beginning to cast a spell, draw weapons, or ordering his allies to attack). If the Undead are protecting an artifact or are unwilling to let him pass they will warn him first to leave the premises or suffer the consequences, if he leaves he will be unmolested, if he presses the issue, they will attack. If he is with a party of adventurers, he will not be attacked even if his party is wiped out or attacks the undead unless he interferes (Example: healing a comrade, casting a spell, or drawing a weapon). If the UnDeath-Favored is obviously an enemy (Example: Going from door to door killing undead in every room) they will consider him an enemy and will not spare him. Otherwise, a UnDeath-Favored character could hold a reasonable and brief conversation in the middle of a pack of feeding ghouls unmolested. His grace period for talking with otherwise hostile undead = CHA Mod + 1 round per level before they tire of him and his questions. Most importantly, if the Undeath-Favored leads the party, in rare cases he may negotiate free passage or freedom as long as the undead lose nothing by allowing them to live. To negotiate passage, he must be 60 feet in front of his group. He must then try to sway their reactions from Indifferent to Friendly on the chart on page 149 of the DMG. He gains a +1 per point of CHA Mod and + 1 per Level he has +1d20. He must then subtract 2 points per living person in his party. Thus a party of four would be a -8 to his chances. A paladin will automatically subtract 5 points instead of 2 and a good priest 3 points instead of the normal 2. (EXAMPLE: Dirodus an 8th level UnDeath-Favored Necromancer is traveling with 4 comrades through Swordwraith Pass in Troyda when he is beset by seven wraiths. Knowing his already hurt party might die if stuck in a fight, he approaches the group. He has a +1 CHA Mod and is 8th level thus he gains a +9 to his roll. the party of four contains a good fighter, a neutral priest, and a neutral rogue all carrying a -2 penalty (-6 total). However the last member of the group is a paladin (-5 penalty) this brings the penalty total to -11. This is going to be a tough negotiation! (+9 -11 = -2 to the negotiation roll) Dirodus needs to make a DC: 15 to score a Friendly Reaction from the Wraiths. if he rolls less than a DC: 1 he'll get an Unfriendly reaction and be attacked for annoying them. Anything between a 1 and 14 will keep their reaction to him Indifferent and they will answer simple questions until getting tired of his meddling. Luck is with him and he rolls an 18 (-2) = 16! With a little grumbling, the wraiths grant him a favor 'Just this once... mortal' and tell him to walk on the left side of the path (away from the treasure horde they've been guarding for six centuries).
